Rin had finally worked his way through all of the cheap candy he'd ended up with in the wake of Halloween, trusting in his ability to eat whatever he wanted without Yukio around to monitor over him. He's doubtful that there would ever be too much, the way he was now; it would never hurt him. But Yukio still would never have tolerated a diet quite so full of candy and popcorn balls as Rin's had been.
Problem was, the more often he had sweets, the more often he upturned the apartment looking for more when his sweet tooth came back for a vengeance. Twenty minutes later found him in the kitchen, face over a steaming skillet full of slowly boiling sugar and water. He stirred it attentively with a wooden spoon, waiting for it to turn the right golden color the recipe from the internet had instructed.
"Nuriko," he called out after her, wherever she'd gone off to in the apartment. "Come do me a favor! I need the cream from the refrigerator."
